Corporate Responsibility

At Brookfields Lawyers, we strive to conduct our business in a responsible and sustainable manner. We recognise that we are part of many communities – legal, corporate, client related, to name a few. As such Brookfields Lawyers aim to sustain lasting and trusting relationships built on mutual respect and active partnerships. The principles of our corporate social responsibility and sustainability policy are to:

  • minimise any negative impact on local communities and environments
  • seek opportunities to make positive contributions financially, socially and economically
  • consult with local communities on activities that might have an impact on them
  • manage those impacts sensitively and sensibly
  • encourage and facilitate employees in giving their time and expertise to support local initiatives
  • promote corporate giving through charitable donations, sponsorship and pro bono services built principally on partnerships with local organisations that are relevant to our business

Examples of our community involvement include:

Auckland Communities Foundation

The role of Auckland Communities Foundation is to inspire individuals and organisations to support the new and emerging needs of Auckland communities. It aims to help donors bring about positive long‑term sustainable development in Auckland. Brookfields Lawyers is co-sponsoring a survey the Foundation is commissioning on the topic of professional advisers and philanthropy.

Auckland Conversations

Brookfields Lawyers is a programme supporter of AUCKLAND CONVERSATIONS, an initiative of Auckland Council that aims to inform and inspire on topics that relate to the vision and issues facing Auckland to become the world's most liveable city.

Brookfields Lawyers Scholarship

The Brookfields Lawyers Scholarship is for law students at the University of Auckland. It is offered to undergraduate students who are enrolled full time and have completed LLB Part 2.

Garden to Table

The Garden to Table program is changing the way children approach and think about food - how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food. We provide pro bono legal services and Andrew Green is a trustee.

Northern Health School

This school was established at the end of 1999 to centralise education for children who are unable to attend regular schools for health reasons. Brookfields Lawyers gives an annual donation to support the school.

The Wallace Arts Trust

The vision of the Wallace Arts Trust is to support, promote and expose New Zealand contemporary artists while providing the wider public with an inimitable cultural and historical resource of contemporary New Zealand art. Brookfields Lawyers provides pro bono legal services to the Trust and is fortunate to have artwork from its collection exhibited at our Auckland office.

Brookfields Lawyers is a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Trust. Our membership in the EEO Employers Group demonstrates our commitment to EEO practices within the firm.

Our People

Brookfields Lawyers' success is directly linked to the people who make up the firm. From senior lawyers to support staff, we focus on attracting people who understand our clients' business, who are committed to finding solutions for their problems, and who are willing to put in the extra effort that makes our practice special.
